New Faculty Quickstart Guide: Your Subject Librarian

A guide for new faculty at Whittier College with information about library services and collections.

Librarian Subject Area Liaisons

Each department at Whittier College has its own librarian to facilitate access to library collections and services.

These librarians are your guide and contact to all library services:

  • Library instruction for your classes tailored to your teaching objectives
  • Appointments for research help for you and your students
  • Collection questions and purchase requests
  • Other faculty services

For matters not included in this guide or additional questions about these topics, please contact Your Subject Librarian directly.

Request a Library Instructional Session

Schedule an instruction session for your students to learn essential research skills. Some topics we cover in these sessions include:

  • Basics of college level research
  • Introduction to the databases
  • LINK+ and ILL tutorial
  • How to use the library catalog

We have an instructional lab with over 20 computers so that students can get hands-on practice doing research in our databases. Sessions can be tailored to specific courses and assignments. Schedule an instruction through your subject librarian.
