University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business' Financial Institutions Center’s longstanding Working Papers Series began in 1993 and provides access to current and archived papers.

IDEAS is a service hosted by the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and the largest bibliographic database dedicated to Economics and available freely on the Internet. Over 1,400,000 items of research can be browsed or searched, and over 1,300,000 can be downloaded in full text! This site is part of a large volunteer effort to enhance the free dissemination of research in Economics, RePEc, which includes bibliographic metadata from over 1,500 participating archives, including all the major publishers and research outlets. IDEAS is just one of several services that use RePEc data.

NBER promotes and distributes "unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community." Its four goals are to develop new statistical measurements, estimate quantitative models of economic behavior, analyze the effects of public policies on the US economy, and predict the effects of alternative policy proposals. Especially useful is their Data Page and Working Paper Archive.

This US Government site provides detailed annual data for U.S. business by geography, industry, and enterprise size. It covers all NAICS industries except crop and animal production; rail transportation; National Postal Service; pension, health, welfare, and vacation funds; trusts, estates, and agency accounts; private households; and public administration. The SUSB also excludes most government employees.

This website provides a list of statistic resources from countries around the world. The list is derived from the US State Department.

A subsection of the U.S. Census, this website contains (among other things) the federal government's Economic Census, which is done every five years and collects statistical data from the national to the local level. An excellent resource, although the sheer amount of data may be a little intimidating at times.
